{"id":249471,"date":"2006-04-25T20:42:55","date_gmt":"2006-04-26T00:42:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/04\/govt-beaucracy-keeps-illegal-club-open"},"modified":"2006-04-25T20:42:55","modified_gmt":"2006-04-26T00:42:55","slug":"govt-beaucracy-keeps-illegal-club-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/04\/govt-beaucracy-keeps-illegal-club-open","title":{"rendered":"Govt Beaucracy Keeps Illegal Club Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>North Abaco&#8217;s Chief District Councillor, Stephen Pedican, said the bordello, which is on the edge of a national reserve and near the Treasure Cay Airport, houses a number of unlawful activities.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This building is used as a strip club, night-club, and out in the back of the property they had a pen built and they were having cock fights,&#8221; said Mr Pedican. &#8220;Now the authorities went in and took down that pen where they were having the cock fights.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pedican added that little is being done to close the illegal night-club but said the Ministry of Works in Abaco and the island&#8217;s local government will meet and discuss a plan of action.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The only thing that is happening now is the Ministry of Works and local government are supposed to have a meeting,&#8221; Mr Pedican said. &#8220;The Works Ministry is now saying that the responsibility to take the building down is now in the hands of the local government. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But it is [local government&#8217;s] understanding that it is not the case but we plan to meet and go through the Local Government Act to see their perspective,&#8221; he continued.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Pedican further insisted that if the responsibility of tearing down the club falls on the shoulders of local government they will complete the job immediately. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If that is the case it wouldn&#8217;t be a problem knocking it down,&#8221; he said. &#8220;We&#8217;ll just go ahead and give the orders to take it down.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, he also revealed that the one-storey building has about four small rooms.
