{"id":249688,"date":"2006-05-16T11:39:55","date_gmt":"2006-05-16T15:39:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/05\/two-traffic-fatalities-in-two-days"},"modified":"2006-05-16T11:39:55","modified_gmt":"2006-05-16T15:39:55","slug":"two-traffic-fatalities-in-two-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2006\/05\/two-traffic-fatalities-in-two-days","title":{"rendered":"Two Traffic Fatalities In Two Days"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Crystal Smith, 19, was one of two back-seat passengers in a champagne coloured Honda Accord that was travelling east on East Bay Street when it hit into a tree on the southern side of the road, police said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Twenty-year-old Shirgregor Saunders of McKinney Drive was the driver.<\/p>\n<p>In the back seat was 20-year-old Dawson Bullard of Garden Hills, who police said received slight head and chest injuries. <\/p>\n<p>According to traffic reports, Ms. Smith, who received severe head injuries, died in hospital, bringing to 15 the number of traffic fatalities for the year. <\/p>\n<p>This latest incident comes only two days after a 35-year-old Gregory Maurice lost his life on the streets.<\/p>\n<p>According to Police Inspector Walter Evans, the McKinney Drive resident was riding his white Suzuki motorcycle around 2:20am Saturday when he collided with a Ford Escort in the Carmichael Road area, near Faith Avenue.<\/p>\n<p>Police said the victim was thrown from his bike on impact. <\/p>\n<p>He died a short time later in hospital. <\/p>\n<p>Investigations into both matters continue.<\/p>\n<p>Police on Monday were also investigating a stabbing earlier that day that has left a 31-year-old man nursing serious wounds in hospital. <\/p>\n<p>Inspector Evans told The Bahama Journal that a Pinewood Gardens resident was in the Malcolm Road area when he was stabbed multiple times about the body.<\/p>\n<p>In other news from the crime beat:<\/p>\n<p>Officers of Operation Quiet Storm arrested 60 illegal immigrants this past weekend. Of that number, 11 were apprehended Sunday evening. <\/p>\n<p>Officials say among the group were four Jamaican women, five Haitian men and two Haitian women.<\/p>\n<p><small>By: Macushla N.
