{"id":24973,"date":"2012-08-22T23:32:14","date_gmt":"2012-08-23T03:32:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=24973"},"modified":"2012-08-27T09:07:40","modified_gmt":"2012-08-27T13:07:40","slug":"golden-knights-treated-to-victory-celebration-at-old-fort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2012\/08\/golden-knights-treated-to-victory-celebration-at-old-fort","title":{"rendered":"Golden Knights Treated To Victory Celebration At Old Fort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-24974\" title=\"golden-knights\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/golden-knights.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"540\" height=\"250\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/golden-knights.jpg 540w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/golden-knights-150x69.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/golden-knights-250x115.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 540px) 100vw, 540px\" \/>The New Providence Development Company Ltd (NPDCo) hosted an evening Reception at their Old Fort Bay Club where residents and staff gave a rousing welcome and a late night supper for the four \u2018Golden Knights.\u2019 The gold-medal winning team made the renowned Western residential community their last stop at the end of another post Olympic event-packed day.<\/p>\n<p>Terry White, owner and Chairman of the Board of NPDCo attended the Olympic Games in London and shared in the nation\u2019s excitement and pride in the Bahamian men winning Gold, and wanted to acknowledge their triumph.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe performance of the Bahamian athletes was exciting and inspiring,\u201d he said, \u201cand to beat the\u00a0 U.S.\u00a0 and win gold in the 4 x 400 meters was a huge achievement.\u00a0\u00a0 We wanted to show our appreciation and support by hosting a reception for them at our\u00a0 Old Fort\u00a0 Bay\u00a0 Club.\u00a0\u00a0 We were appreciative that they were able to find the time out of their hectic celebration schedule to attend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Old Fort Bay Club Manager Jason Rolle said it was with joy and pride that he welcomed the \u2018Golden Knights\u2019 \u2013 Chris Brown, Demetrius Pinder, Michael Mathieu and Ramon Miller to the Old Fort Bay Club.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you for allowing us to share in your victory,\u201d he told them. \u201cWe understand that to compete and win on the world stage, one must have talent, dedication, determination and funding.\u00a0 The cost of ongoing training programmes, equipment, nutrition and travel are the basic essentials in developing world class Bahamian athletes. With that in mind, on behalf of the owners, management and staff of NPDCo and the Old Fort Bay Club, it is my pleasure to present each of you with a token of our appreciation for a job well done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Guests included many well known faces from the world of Track and Field and the Olympic support staff including Wellington Miller Olympic Committee president, Mike Sands BAAA\u2019s president, \u2018Golden Girl\u2019 Tonique Williams-Darling, Olympic athlete Wesley Neymour, BAAA\u2019s Alpheus Finlayson and Linda Thompson, Diane Woodside &#8211; first female head coach on a Bahamas Olympic squad, National Team coach Rupert Gardiner, Ricardo Rolle, Larry Glinton, Kathryn Dillett, Winston Marshall and Kermit Taylor.<\/p>\n<p>Old Fort Bay Club members, David and Patricia Hughes commended NPDCo on the initiative and the good attendance. \u201cThis was a great idea, and we were pleased to see such a good turn-out,\u201d said Mrs. Hughes. \u201cThe young men were very friendly and accommodating, we all got our pictures taken with them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was an\u00a0 electrifying appearance by the Golden Knights,&#8221; said local resident Tim Covington who, with his wife Liz of Tommy Hilfiger, attended the welcome cocktail reception. &#8220;We were thrilled to meet them and warmly embraced the opportunity to\u00a0 congratulate them as\u00a0 conquering heroes!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alistair Henderson, NPDCo president said that the company quietly supports many local cultural and community fund raising initiatives. \u201cOur Chairman Terry White suggested we hold this event for the \u2018Golden Knights\u2019 and I am extremely pleased that it went so well.
