{"id":25206,"date":"2012-08-31T09:34:09","date_gmt":"2012-08-31T13:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=25206"},"modified":"2012-08-31T09:34:09","modified_gmt":"2012-08-31T13:34:09","slug":"dirty-money-for-scholarships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2012\/08\/dirty-money-for-scholarships","title":{"rendered":"Dirty Money for Scholarships"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_25207\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25207\" style=\"width: 239px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-25207\" title=\"dirty-money\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/dirty-money.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"239\" height=\"156\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/dirty-money.jpg 239w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/dirty-money-150x97.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 239px) 100vw, 239px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-25207\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dirty Money<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Island Luck web shop officials yesterday awarded $250,000 in scholarships to 20 students to attend Success Training College this semester.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Island Luck decided that it has to do its part and be its brother\u2019s keeper and encourage other business people and other establishments to do the same,&#8221; said Island Luck CEO Sebas Bastian at the ceremony outside the college.<\/p>\n<p>Bastian said company officials decided to help students who couldn\u2019t help themselves.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We just wanted to try and help Bahamians that really can\u2019t afford to pay for college, but have the ambition and want to make things better for their life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Over 300 applicants sought scholarships, but only 20 were chosen, Bastian said.<\/p>\n<p>Students were asked to write an essay detailing which career they would choose and how it would impact economic growth in The Bahamas.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We chose Success because they have a good curriculum and they have smaller classrooms that are really hands on where they can really learn what it is they have to do,&#8221; Bastian said.<\/p>\n<p>President of Success Carlton Neymour thanked Island Luck for the donation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;You are providing the support necessary to prepare these individuals for careers in business, computers, education and allied health,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>Bastian said Island Luck would also present the four Golden Knights \u2014 Chris Brown, Demetrius Pinder, Michael Mathieu and Ramon Miller \u2014 with cash at a ceremony next week.<\/p>\n<p>They won gold in the men\u2019s relay at the recent Olympics in London.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em><strong>Source: The Nassau Guardian<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Island Luck web shop officials donated $250,000 in allegedly illegal funds for students to attend Success Training College.
