{"id":25305,"date":"2012-09-05T09:15:21","date_gmt":"2012-09-05T13:15:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=25305"},"modified":"2012-09-05T10:17:23","modified_gmt":"2012-09-05T14:17:23","slug":"speed-week-team-excited-about-government-support","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2012\/09\/speed-week-team-excited-about-government-support","title":{"rendered":"Speed Week Team Excited About Government Support"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_25306\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25306\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-25306\" title=\"speedweek\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/speedweek.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/speedweek.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/speedweek-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/09\/speedweek-250x187.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-25306\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Deputy prime minister Philip Davis in Speed Week President Jimmie Lowe&#39;s E-Type.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>With less than three months to go before the familiar cry of \u201cGentlemen start your engines\u201d, Deputy Prime Minister Philip Davis threw the Government\u2019s support behind Bahamas Speed Week and pledged to accelerate improvements to the site of the prestigious event at Arawak Cay.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Davis, who is also Minister of Works and Urban Development, met with the media, toured the site in a Jaguar E-Type and revealed the Government\u2019s hopes to widen roads, improve landscaping and help transform the area of West Bay Street known as Fish Fry where, come late November, some of the world\u2019s most exotic cars will gather as Bahamas Speed Week 2012 gets set to take off.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of my Government, I would like to say that we fully Support Bahamas Speed Week and recognize the value that Speed Week represents, including tremendous international exposure\u2026\u2026\u2026and what it can mean to the country as a whole\u201d said Mr Davis.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Davis arrived in suit and tie but shed his jacket to ride in the E-Type with Speed Week President Jimmie Lowe.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Lowe and those members of the organizing team who are based in the Bahamas, spent several hours with a team from the Ministry of Works prior to the Minister\u2019s arrival at Arawak Cay, walking the full length of the cay, identifying specific needs.
