NASSAU, Bahamas — Bahamas labour and maritime officials attended a meeting of the International Labour Organization, held in Geneva, Switzerland from September 20 \u2013 22, 2010.<\/p>\n
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss ratifying the Maritime Labour Convention, 2006.\u00a0 The provisions of this convention would safeguard the rights of workers on ships that are registered in The Bahamas.<\/p>\n
Presently, The Bahamas has the third largest Ship Registry in the world; therefore, full ratification would positively impact thousands of maritime workers.<\/p>\n
