{"id":27008,"date":"2012-10-17T07:54:03","date_gmt":"2012-10-17T11:54:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=27008"},"modified":"2012-10-17T07:54:03","modified_gmt":"2012-10-17T11:54:03","slug":"cob-and-bha-launch-skills-training-courses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2012\/10\/cob-and-bha-launch-skills-training-courses","title":{"rendered":"COB And BHA Launch Skills Training Courses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"lightbox\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/bha-cob-training.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft  wp-image-27010\" title=\"bha-cob-training\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/bha-cob-training.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"324\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/bha-cob-training.jpg 900w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/bha-cob-training-150x138.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/bha-cob-training-250x230.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/bha-cob-training-800x736.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 324px) 100vw, 324px\" \/><\/a>The College of The Bahamas (COB) and the Bahamas Hotel Association (BHA) have launched the first in a series of short-term skills courses to prepare individuals for entry-level positions in the industry.\u00a0 The courses are being conducted through the College\u2019s Continuing Education Program.<\/p>\n<p>The first two courses in the series focus on the food and beverage areas, where industry anticipates the greatest need for filling entry-level positions.\u00a0 These include a course on Basic Culinary and a second course on Banqueting: Waiter\/Waitress training.\u00a0 \u00a0The courses are designed to appeal to recent high school graduates who are not presently attending post-secondary institutions, the unemployed, as well as individuals who wish to move into a different career path.<\/p>\n<p>BHA President Stuart Bowe states \u201cKnowing the opportunities available in the next two years as the hotels, casinos and convention facilities near completion at the Baha Mar project;
