{"id":27244,"date":"2012-10-23T08:44:37","date_gmt":"2012-10-23T12:44:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=27244"},"modified":"2012-10-23T08:44:37","modified_gmt":"2012-10-23T12:44:37","slug":"shame-the-criminals-pretty-in-pink","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2012\/10\/shame-the-criminals-pretty-in-pink","title":{"rendered":"Shame The Criminals: Pretty in Pink"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-27250\" style=\"margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" title=\"inmate-in-pink\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/inmate-in-pink-250x181.jpg\" alt=\"Prison inmate\" width=\"250\" height=\"181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/inmate-in-pink-250x181.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/inmate-in-pink-150x108.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/inmate-in-pink.jpg 329w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Is it not time for the young men and women who are hell bent on tearing this country apart \u201cbe shamed\u201d instead of them being locked up 24\/7?<\/p>\n<p>They should be used in the community wearing either bright orange or pink overalls with \u201cFox Hill Inmate\u201d written on their backs.\u00a0 They should then be used to clean the streets or the many public beaches, paint old buildings, assist in refurbishing damage done to properties by other vandals, or better still put them to work in Andros.<\/p>\n<p>I met a farmer there this weekend.\u00a0 He cannot get labor for love; no money.\u00a0 These prison inmates could help produce food for the nation instead of using illegal immigrants.\u00a0 They might enjoy working the fields and get a sense of achievement back in their souls instead of destruction.\u00a0 We could oversee them by using some of the retired defence force and the retired wiser police officers.\u00a0 This will enable them to continue mentoring the young men and women.\u00a0 So maybe the next time a person has a mind about doing a crime they will think twice knowing they too will be wearing the pink or orange overalls for all the world to see.<\/p>\n<p>As for those who will shout \u201chuman rights\u201d, why shouldn\u2019t we be the only country in the world that says yes we are looking at human rights \u2013 the human rights of the law abiding citizen.\u00a0 We must take crime seriously and show that we will not tolerate the minority spoiling it for the majority and our visitors.<\/p>\n<p>I am not saying let out the violent criminals, but you have many in jail who persistently commit crime in order to get free board and lodge.\u00a0 Let\u2019s make it harder inside so they won\u2019t want to go back.\u00a0 Somebody has to take a stand and mean what we say.\u00a0 Take Singapore; there is very low crime in that country, or our neighbor Cuba.\u00a0 They both have no tolerance.\u00a0 The price for doing this is far less than the price we are now paying.<\/p>\n<p>Nobody then will be allowed to mess with The Bahamas\u2019 reputation of being the best little country in the world.\u00a0 One other thing.\u00a0 It would be great if the newspapers would stop using the crimes as headline stories.\u00a0 This only gives the criminals kudos.\u00a0 I agree it should be reported but make it page five instead.\u00a0 We have to stop the criminals from having bragging rights.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em><strong>By: Dr. M.U.
