{"id":2809,"date":"2010-10-05T10:03:42","date_gmt":"2010-10-05T14:03:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=2809"},"modified":"2010-10-05T10:03:42","modified_gmt":"2010-10-05T14:03:42","slug":"union-chief-tells-zns-workers-to-stay-put","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2010\/10\/union-chief-tells-zns-workers-to-stay-put","title":{"rendered":"Union Chief Tells ZNS Workers To Stay Put"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Bahamas Communications and Public Officers Union chief, Bernard Evans, has advised his members to refuse the redundancy packages offered to them yesterday by the Broadcasting Corporation (BCB).<\/p>\n<p>In a bid to downsize the bloated company, ZNS chairman Michael Moss met with the entire staff of the BCB&#8217;s Nassau location yesterday to offer them &#8220;separation packages&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The corporation&#8217;s northern division in Grand Bahama will be given a similar offer today.<\/p>\n<p>The staff will be given a week to decide whether or not they will accept the offer.<\/p>\n<p>Union chief Evans says the union is not pleased with the offers, seeing as many of his members are in debt; some owe up to $150,000.
