He was convicted in April 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors alleged that Beckford slit Newton&#8217;s throat and dumped her partially naked body off the C.W. Saunders Highway before burning it.<\/p>\n<p>Police investigators claimed Beckford killed Newton over an argument about whether she had given him AIDS. However, Beckford denied killing Ms Newton, knowing her, or having AIDS.<\/p>\n<p>The appeal has been adjourned to January 24.
