Thousands of votes were cast overnight on Facebook in the People\u2019s Choice Award category of Bahamas Realty\u2019s\u00a0 2012 Holiday Home Show Case Lighting Competition. The entry with the most Facebook votes wins $500 BEC Bucks.<\/p>\n

Showcase coordinator Chandra Parker McCallum, Broker, says, \u201cI\u2019d like to thank each of our 14 entrants for\u00a0being part\u00a0of\u00a0Bahamas Realty’s Holiday Home Showcase. I am so pleased to see all\u00a0their festive creativity. On\u00a0behalf of Bahamas Realty, I\u00a0thank you for making\u00a0our\u00a0country more magical at this most special time of year!<\/p>\n

\u201cThe\u00a0voting for the People’s Choice Award on Facebook is heating up.\u00a0Just last night,\u00a0I saw the lead change\u00a0despite one entrant being more than 200 votes ahead! So,\u00a0if you are behind at the moment, don’t be daunted in the least. The deadline for voting is not\u00a0until\u00a08 pm on December 18th! The Spanish Wells<\/del> Harbour Island entrant got about 2,000 votes overnight!\u201d<\/p>\n

She explains, \u201c Here\u2019s how to vote: If you are on Facebook visit www.facebook.com\/bahamasrealty and then click on the People’s Choice square towards the top of the page. If you are\u00a0not on Facebook,\u00a0ask friends and family to do it for you.\u00a0 The more you vote, comment and\u00a0share the better chance you have to win the\u00a0prize for this category of $500 in BEC Bucks.\u00a0\u00a0And, remember to return to the Facebook page often!\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cWe have yet to select the five finalists in the main competition, but I must tell you, it will be very difficult to pick just five for the judging on Dec. 18! \u201c<\/p>\n

Prizes also are adding up for the popular promotion. The latest is a $200 gift certificate from Rocky Farms Nursery, just added to the 3rd prize package\u201d says Mrs. Parker-McCallum.<\/p>\n

The Grand Prize is\u00a0$1,000 gift certificate\u00a0from Builder’s Mall\u00a0 stores and a $500 donation from Bahamas Realty\u00a0to the charity of the winner\u2019s choice (from approved list). The main portion of the competition\u00a0is open to Nassau and Paradise Island locations, as the top five finalists will be judged in person on the evening of December 18.<\/p>\n

The People’s Choice Award\u00a0is open to the entire Bahamas and the prize of $500 in BEC Bucks has\u00a0 certainly\u00a0gotten the \u2018Likes\u2019 and \u2018Shares\u2019\u00a0flying on Facebook. Vote December now through Dec.\u00a0 18 at www.facebook.com\/bahamasrealty,\u201d says Mrs. Parker- McCallum<\/p>\n

\u201cIt’s not a photo contest, but the People’s Choice Award will be judged on Facebook by the public. It\u00a0could\u00a0come down to\u00a0who has\u00a0the most active friends on Facebook,\u00a0sharing and liking their entry photo,\u201d the realtor reports.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are honored to have our esteemed and very busy\u00a0judges back for the 2nd year: Stan Burnside (Artist, Cartoonist, Educator); Elaine Pinder (Entrepreneur and CEO of Bamboo Shack\u00a0& Frankie\u00a0Gone Bananas); Giovanni Stuart\u00a0(TV Producer, Official iReporter); \u00a0Ethelyn Lundy (Landscape Architect, Interior Designer); and standing in for her husband, Robin, this year is\u00a0Andrea Brownrigg (Director at Bahamas Realty, Broker).\u201d<\/p>\n

Recalling his judging experience last year fondly, Giovanni Stuart remarked “I was amazed at the unique Christmas creativity showcased by all the families. It was a tough call, but of course, it was Lucky 13 that won in the end! I’m looking forward to seeing much more island cheer and this year’s ultimate Bahamas Winter Wonderland.”<\/p>\n

\u201cAs\u00a0Showcase Coordinator again, the best part\u00a0will be reconnecting with the wonderful families and judges I got to know last year, and\u00a0of course, anticipating\u00a0the\u00a0festive surprises in store for us this year. We’ve had visions of Christmas lights dancing\u00a0in our heads\u00a0for months here at Bahamas Realty, as we worked to coordinate the Holiday Home Showcase and now it’s almost time to see who the finalists will be!\u201d<\/p>\n

Entries don’t need to be elaborate, she says,\u00a0 \u201cWe are looking for the\u00a0\u2018jolly factor\u2019 and how it makes\u00a0us feel when viewed from the street. We hope this competition encourages more of us to decorate, making the Bahamas festive and magical for our children at this most special time of year.\u201d<\/p>\n

2012 Holiday Home Showcase sponsors are: Builders Mall stores on Wulff Rd. (Tile King, FYP and The Paint Centre, plus Liquid Courage in Palmdale); BEC, Jolly Roger and Paint Suppliers, Shirley St.;\u00a0 AG Electric, Jerome Ave; Seven Seas, Nassau Agencies, and\u00a0 Rocky Farms Nursery.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a Tip from the Top for taking Christmas Light Photos: \u201cStart snapping away before dusk and keep taking\u00a0a digital photo every few minutes. There will come a point where the lights glow brightly but you can still make out the home…. That’s the shot you’ll want to use on next year\u2019s Christmas Card!\u201d urges Sara Parker, broker, whose idea launched the campaign last year, \u201cin memory of that brilliant little house on Shirley St. The one we all took our children to see.\u201d<\/p>\n
