{"id":31104,"date":"2013-02-04T09:08:03","date_gmt":"2013-02-04T14:08:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=31104"},"modified":"2013-02-04T09:08:03","modified_gmt":"2013-02-04T14:08:03","slug":"tourists-warned-about-bahamas-crime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2013\/02\/tourists-warned-about-bahamas-crime","title":{"rendered":"Tourists Warned About Bahamas Crime"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-19517\" title=\"crime-tourism\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/crime-tourism.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/crime-tourism.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/crime-tourism-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>The US State Department officials have again warned American visitors about crime in The Bahamas due to the steady rise in violent crime over the past two years.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s report did not include criminal threat ratings for New Providence or Grand Bahama; however, the country was said to have a \u201cmoderate\u201d threat of trans-national terrorism due to \u201cporous borders\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Officials also underscored concerns for residential security, minimal enforcement of traffic laws, and an \u201cupsurge\u201d in criminal activity that could put innocent bystanders at risk.<\/p>\n<p>The report read: \u201cMuch of the violent crime on New Providence Island happens in non-tourist areas referred to locally as \u2018Over the Hill,\u2019 These areas are generally south of the downtown Nassau area south of Shirley Street.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese areas are not clearly defined but encompass the lower income areas on New Providence.
