This year\u2019s theme is \u201cDiscovering the Opportunities in This Challenging Environment\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s speakers include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Obie Wilchcombe, M.P., Minister of Tourism<\/li>\n<li>Dr Michael Darville, M.P., Minister for Grand Bahama<\/li>\n<li>Ian Fair, Chairman, Grand Bahama Port Authority<\/li>\n<li>Barry Malcolm, President, Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce<\/li>\n<li>Gowon Bowe, Partner, PricewaterhouseCoopers<\/li>\n<li>Merrit Storr, Managing Partner, Chancellors Chambers<\/li>\n<li>Christopher Russell, Director of Forestry, Ministry of Environment<\/li>\n<li>Sarah MacDonald, President &amp; CEO, Grand Bahama Power Company<\/li>\n<li>Marlon Johnson, Sr. V.P. Marketing &amp; Communications, BTC<\/li>\n<li>Eleanor Phillips, Director, The Nature Conservancy<\/li>\n<li>Robert Myers, President, V Trade Co., Ltd.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Joan Albury, President, TCL Group and founder and chief organizer of the five-island Business Outlook series commented this year\u2019s and choice of speakers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur choice of topic and speakers has been quite deliberate. For the Business Outlook series, we make these selections to articulate with the economic and business climate the host island and the country as a whole are experiencing. Grand Bahama has been going through some very challenging times in many sectors, so it is importantreflect the total package\u2014 tourism, port, environment, communications, energy and business.Grand Bahamians are fighters, however. In paying tribute to this strong character, we wanted to assemble a group of presenters who could talk of real opportunities they can run with,\u201d MrsAlbury said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are some really hopeful signs for our big island to the north,\u201d MrsAlbury added. \u201cSome key factors are coming together at last. For one thing, Grand Bahama has a dedicated Ministry for the first time. Michael Darville is a long-time, contributing member of the Grand Bahama community. He brings to the table a wealth of skills from two professional areas\u2014medicine and engineering. The Obie Wilchcombe has a similar profile. He is a long-time representative of West End, Grand Bahama and Bimini and, as the present Minister of Tourism, is making strides in reinvigorating the industry on these islands. It is essential to have the input of the current Chairman of Grand Bahama Port authority, the President of the Grand Bahama Chamber of Commerce, and also of the CEO of Grand Bahama Power Company.
