{"id":32074,"date":"2013-02-26T09:00:46","date_gmt":"2013-02-26T14:00:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=32074"},"modified":"2013-02-26T09:07:31","modified_gmt":"2013-02-26T14:07:31","slug":"pandemonium-breaks-out-downtown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2013\/02\/pandemonium-breaks-out-downtown","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Pandemonium&#8217; Breaks Out Downtown (VIDEO)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2013\/02\/pandemonium-breaks-out-downtown-32074.html\/siren\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-32075\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-32075\" title=\"siren\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/siren.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/siren.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/siren-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Witnesses claim that &#8220;pandemonium&#8221; erupted in broad daylight over the weekend when a police officer opened fire on a vehicle fleeing from downtown Nassau.<\/p>\n<p>The shooting occurred around noon at Prince George Wharf and Frederick Street.<\/p>\n<p>The driver of the vehicle allegedly refused to stop, struck the officer with his car, and then attempted to speed off in the midst of downtown traffic.<\/p>\n<p>One onlooker stated that he was &#8220;stunned&#8221; while another said tourists ran for cover in confusion after hearing gunfire.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was thinking, what the hell happened?&#8221; a nearby jewelry store employee said.<\/p>\n<p>Crispen Bullard, a construction worker overlooking the action from the roof of a Burger King, served as an eyewitness.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Offices were trying to stop a grey Honda hatchback,&#8221; Mr Bullard said. &#8220;The fellow opened the door, knocked the police off the bike with the car door, then drove away.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Mr Bullard claims that the car refused to stop, forcing officers to fire a single shot that hit the car&#8217;s tear tire.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve never seen anything like it in my life,&#8221; Mr Bullard said.<\/p>\n<p>An employee at Bahamia, a clothing store close-by to the shooting, said tourists and shoppers inside the shop were startled by the gunfire and sought refuge in the back of the store.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was kind of pandemonium,&#8221; the employee said. &#8220;The tourists started running &#8211; they were all the way in the back by the stockroom, hiding in the changing rooms.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to sources, both the officer and the driver were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.
