The Ministry of Public Works & Transport wishes to advise the public that works have commenced on Market Street as part of the New Providence Road Improvement Project. Road improvements will be carried out on the new one-way couplet system on Market Street, starting from Robinson Road to Wulff Road.<\/p>\n
The improvements include milling of existing pavement, installation of new drainage facilities, utilities, asphalt pavement, sidewalks, street lighting, traffic signs and road markings.<\/p>\n
The public should expect partial lane closures on the eastern side of Market Street. Motorists are encouraged to follow temporary traffic diversion signs that are in place.<\/p>\n
We kindly ask that motorists follow and observe traffic management scheme and diversions in place.<\/p>\n
During the construction phases access will be granted to residents, motorists and pedestrians travelling through the following streets:
\nPalm Tree Ave
\nCoconut Grove
\nPoinciana Ave
\nBahama Ave
\nCordeaux Ave
\nPalmetto Ave
\nWhite Road
\nAndros Ave<\/p>\n
Construction works will be carried out in different stages as the work progresses towards Robinson Road. Updates will be posted and announced through the media.<\/p>\n
Traffic management measures that have been put in place to facilitate ongoing road works. These measures are intended to improve the safe movement and volume of traffic flow on the roads and channel traffic onto the appropriate roads for better management.<\/p>\n
Once the road works have been completed, the public can expect to see improved traffic flow, reduced user costs, improved pavement and drainage facilities, safety features including street-lighting, signage and road markings on all of the roads under the project.<\/p>\n
The Ministry takes this opportunity to apologise to the business owners, residents and the motoring public for any inconvenience that may be caused as a result of the road works.<\/p>\n
The Ministry encourages all road users to do their part by exercising good judgment, driving with care and caution, following the detour signs in place and being courteous to other drivers.\u00a0 The Ministry looks forward to the cooperation of the motoring public.<\/p>\n
