The Bahamian Project hits the airwaves on Monday at 6pm on Guardian Radio show Bush Tea 96.9fm.<\/strong><\/p>\n Bush Tea, hosted by Guardian Managing Editor Erica Wells, explores all aspects of Bahamian life and culture through insightful interviews, profiles and features.<\/p>\n On Monday, March 25th, the show will feature The Bahamian Project, a three-year initiative, in collaboration with the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas (NAGB) and Popopstudios International Center For The Visual Arts.<\/p>\n Creator of The Bahamian Project, portrait photographer Duke Wells<\/a> and his wife, Lisa Wells join John Cox, chief curator at NAGB and Popopstudios founder.<\/p>\n Through the project Duke and Lisa aim to create a collection of large, high quality, black and white fine art portrait photographs that document the character of the individuals who represent the positive spirit of the Bahamas. Ultimately, it is hoped that this collection will be the foundation for the country’s first permanent National Portrait Gallery.<\/p>\n The NAGB will unveil the exhibit of the first 40 framed portraits on July 11, 2013 as part of the programming for the Bahamas 40th Independence Anniversary.<\/p>\n During the talk show many aspects of The Bahamian Project will be discussed including who is being photographed, why, and what this project means to Bahamians today and future generations of the Bahamas.
