Freeport, Bahamas – GBPA I.C.E (Innovative Creative Entrepreneurs) sponsored \u00a0by The Grand Bahama Port Authority, Limited (GBPA) was named top ‘Company of the Year’ at this year’s Junior Achievement awards’ banquet held recently.<\/p>\n
Offering congratulations was Ian Rolle, GBPA President. \u00a0“We are extremely proud of this talented group of youngsters who have accomplished a first in our company’s history in JA,” he said. \u00a0“This speaks to the level of diligence and entrepreneurial creativity that they possess, along with strong parental support and nurturing by a dedicated group of GBPA professionals who served as JA advisors.”<\/p>\n
At the start of the JA season, GBPA I.C.E. set a goal to become company of the year. \u00a0After months of hard work, ingenuity and various activities, they were able to prevail through commitment, determination and teamwork. \u00a0In summarizing the group’s success, Executive Advisor, Dr. Telina Smith stated, “It is a great feeling and the students will always remember that once you set your mind to accomplish success, it is possible to achieve it.”<\/p>\n
Joining her as advisors were GBPA employees, Juliette Miller, Felix Bowe Jr, Morgan Fernander, Dereka Wells-Dames, Andrew Brown, Shan Elliott, and D’Andra Stubbs.<\/p>\n
The group’s total sales of beautifying salt and sugar scrubs, exceeded $2,000, with their top sales performer individually gaining over $500 in sales. \u00a0Along with the ‘Company of the Year’ award, GBPA I.C.E. also received company awards for dominoes (male), volleyball, basketball, Most Outstanding JA Sports Day, Most Outstanding Banner, and Most Outstanding Product of the Year. \u00a0Individual awards were presented to group member, Isaac Missick – Most Distinguished Achiever Nominee (2nd place); Most Outstanding Individual Sales; Most Outstanding VP of Finance; and Speech Finalist Winner. \u00a0Royell Bowleg received the Most Outstanding Individual Officers exam results, and Dr. Telina Smith was named Most Outstanding Advisor.<\/p>\n
“Good attitudes among players do not guarantee a team’s success, but bad attitudes guarantee its failure,” was the proverbial reminder given to I.C.E. members by their GBPA advisors. \u00a0“Keep up the positive attitude, commitment and determination to achieve success.”<\/p>\n
Additionally, advisors offered thanks to the various parents who lent their support. \u00a0“This success would not have been attained without your assistance in providing transportation and granting permission for them to participate in additional sales and production activities. \u00a0So, we would like to take a moment to extend our appreciation and thanks for the part each of you played in building the framework that has led to this landmark achievement.”<\/p>\n
Celebrations continued with a fun-filled day of activities and refreshments at the Grand Lucayan Resort, as GBPA rewarded the I.C.E. Achievers for a job well done.<\/p>\n
