{"id":36536,"date":"2013-06-12T08:48:34","date_gmt":"2013-06-12T12:48:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=36536"},"modified":"2013-06-12T09:05:46","modified_gmt":"2013-06-12T13:05:46","slug":"bahamas-could-land-new-bowl-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2013\/06\/bahamas-could-land-new-bowl-games","title":{"rendered":"Bahamas Could Land New Bowl Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2013\/06\/bahamas-could-land-new-bowl-games-36536.html\/football-2\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-36545\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-36545\" title=\"football\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/football.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/football.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/06\/football-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Seeking to give their bowl-eligible teams chances to play, college football&#8217;s smaller conferences are exploring avenues to create additional bowl games next season, according to an ESPN.com report.<\/p>\n<p>The impetus comes from the Power Five conferences preference to play each other in bowl games, leaving the smaller conferences shut out.<\/p>\n<p>Up to nine locations are being considered to begin bowl games in 2014, sources told ESPN.com: Miami, Orlando, Little Rock, Ark.; Boca Raton, Fla.; Montgomery, Ala.; Los Angeles; Ireland; Dubai and either Toronto or Nassau, Bahamas.<\/p>\n<p>Any new bowls created in 2014 would be to accommodate smaller conferences &#8212; American Athletic Conference, Conference USA, Mid-American, Mountain West and Sun Belt &#8212; and will coincide with the expiration of the NCAA&#8217;s moratorium to add new bowls.<\/p>\n<p>The current four-year bowl cycle ends after the 2013 season. A six-year bowl cycle begins in 2014.
