{"id":36575,"date":"2013-06-12T23:22:38","date_gmt":"2013-06-13T03:22:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=36575"},"modified":"2013-06-12T23:22:48","modified_gmt":"2013-06-13T03:22:48","slug":"reward-offered-for-information-on-animal-killers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2013\/06\/reward-offered-for-information-on-animal-killers","title":{"rendered":"Reward Offered For Information On Animal Killers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FREEPORT \u2013 The Humane Society of Grand Bahama is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the killing of several farm animals at the St George&#8217;s High School.<\/p>\n<p>According to police reports, seven goats and 12 chickens were slaughtered between May 28 and June 1 at the rear of the school compound on Sunset Highway.<\/p>\n<p>The animals were a part of the school\u2019s agricultural programme. The estimated cost to replace the livestock is $930.<\/p>\n<p>School principal Keith Barr said they initially discovered three goats and 12 chickens dead on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Another four goats, including the big ram, were discovered on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Barr is appealing to anyone with relevant information to contact the authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Asst Commissioner of Police Emrick Seymour said the police also take animal cruelty cases very seriously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have recently gotten some concerns about that and we tell our officers that animal cases are just as serious as other crimes that are being committed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The principal Mr Barr described the incident as cruel and senseless.<\/p>\n<p>A poster offering the reward is being circulated online.
