{"id":37142,"date":"2013-07-08T06:08:11","date_gmt":"2013-07-08T10:08:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=37142"},"modified":"2013-07-07T23:12:13","modified_gmt":"2013-07-08T03:12:13","slug":"first-bahamian-female-ship-rider-accompanies-u-s-vessel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2013\/07\/first-bahamian-female-ship-rider-accompanies-u-s-vessel","title":{"rendered":"First Bahamian Female Ship Rider Accompanies U.S. Vessel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-37148\" title=\"female-skip\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/female-skip.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/female-skip.jpg 500w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/female-skip-150x112.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/female-skip-250x187.jpg 250w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Leading Woman Marine (LWM) Deann Davis paid a courtesy call to U.S. Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires John Dinkelman on June 28, where she shared her experience \u201cunderway\u201d as the first female ship rider from the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF).\u00a0 LWM Davis began her tour aboard the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Resolute and the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Northland in late May, and remained on patrol with the crews for several weeks.<\/p>\n<p>LWM Davis capitalized on her 22 years of experience with the RBDF to make her participation as the first female \u201cship-rider\u201d with the U.S. Coast Guard a great success. Her U.S. Coast Guard colleagues described LWM Davis as \u201ca valuable member of the intelligence teams\u201d on both cutters.\u00a0 During her visit with Charg\u00e9 Dinkelman, Davis expressed her hope that her participation might open the door for other female RBDF officers to serve as ship riders in the future.\u00a0 The Charg\u00e9 praised Davis\u2019 \u201ccan do\u201d attitude, suggesting that her determination and accomplishments will undoubtedly serve as an inspiration to young Bahamian girls throughout the archipelago.<\/p>\n<p>Bahamian RBDF ship riders have accompanied U.S. vessels in The Bahamas since 1996.
