{"id":39260,"date":"2013-09-13T08:30:07","date_gmt":"2013-09-13T12:30:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=39260"},"modified":"2013-09-13T09:06:06","modified_gmt":"2013-09-13T13:06:06","slug":"teachers-protest-over-rat-infested-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2013\/09\/teachers-protest-over-rat-infested-schools","title":{"rendered":"Teachers Protest Over Rat-Infested Schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-39304\" title=\"rats\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/rats.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/rats.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/rats-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Teachers at Uriah McPhee and Stephen Dillet Primary Schools staged sit-ins on Wednesday, much to the dismay of some parents who had to collect their children early.<\/p>\n<p>It is the latest move by the Bahamas Union of Teachers (BUT) to bring resolution to several health concerns at those schools, namely, mold and rodent and termite infestation, according to BUT President Belinda Wilson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rats and the rodents have infested the school (Stephen Dillet) and there is feces and urine,\u201d Wilson said outside the Department of Labour. \u201cAs you walk into the school the stench greets you.
