Copper thieves struck again this week, hitting a Grand Bahama Power Company substation and the new Government Complex.<\/p>\n
Police reported yesterday that copper pipes and fittings valued at $4,651 were stolen from a trailer on the construction site of the new complex situated on the Mall Drive sometime between 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and 8:00 a.m. on Friday.<\/p>\n
Grand Bahama Power Company executives also reported some $5,000 in losses. According to communications officer Earnestine Moxyz, the theft was discovered yesterday afternoon by employees making their usual inspection of the facilities.<\/p>\n
Moxyz said she is hopeful that there won’t be any outages as a result of the theft.<\/p>\n
The persons who engage in stealing copper from sites such as the substation run the risk of being shocked or even electrocuted.<\/p>\n
