Animal lovers are being asked to bring their pets to the first ever Potcake Party in Nassau, being held in celebration of the lives of Jill and Ron Gandza.<\/p>\n

The couple, who were killed by a hit and run driver in Exuma in April, hosted several Potcake Parties in Canada over the past few years, bringing together the many Potcakes adopted by Canadian families.<\/p>\n

The organisers said: \u201cBring your potcakes and not-cakes to a celebration of the lives of Jill and Ron Gandza and the amazing work they did for the animals of the Bahamas.<\/p>\n

\u201cCome and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with the family, including the pooches, grab a cocktail, a bite to eat and enjoy the company of fellow animal lovers.<\/p>\n

\u201cCanadian friends will be celebrating on the same day \u2013 it\u2019s wonderful how many people this beautiful couple bought together.\u201d<\/p>\n

In their honour, the Bahamas Humane Society will be building a new puppy wing, named Gandza House.<\/p>\n

Green Parrot Bar will be offering their Pink Potcake drink proceeds to this cause.<\/p>\n

Anyone who would like to make a donation at the party, should make cheques payable to the Bahamas Humane Society, referencing Gandza House, the BHS said.<\/p>\n

Jill Gandza, 55, and her 57-year-old husband, Ron, were walking to their Exuma home from a local hotel on April 26 around 10pm when the were struck by a car.<\/p>\n

Mr Gandza was pronounced dead at the scene while Mrs Gandza died of her injuries at the local clinic later that night.<\/p>\n

The police have repeatedly insisted that charges will be brought in the case \u201csoon\u201d, but this has not occurred to date.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
