As Miami\u2019s closest neighbor, a mere 55 miles off the Florida U.S. mainland, The Bahamas have been the backyard playground for Floridians for years, and are embracing the opportunity to host Miami\u2019s white hot team.<\/p>\n

Bahamas Minister of Tourism, The Honourable, Obie Wilchcombe said that \u201cThe Bahamas Ministry Of Tourism is looking to build a viable Sports Tourism program that will position the destination as a sporting mecca but also create a selling position intended to not only attract major\/minor league groups but to facilitate the staging of some of the world\u2019s most historic athletic events and tournaments.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government and people of The Bahamas look forward and stand ready to host the championship team that represents the type of sporting groups that will assist in showcasing\u00a0 our country as a sporting haven,\u201d\u00a0 the\u00a0 Minister\u00a0 said.<\/p>\n

The NBA championship team,\u00a0 following its Training Camp in The Bahamas will be opening their\u00a0 regular season Oct. 29 against the visiting Chicago Bulls.<\/p>\n

In June, The\u00a0 Heat\u00a0 became one of the few teams in the National Basketball Association to repeat as champions and win the Larrry O’Brien trophy in back to back years. The\u00a0 champions\u00a0 have now appeared in three consecutive championship finals, and won two of the last three.<\/p>\n
