The U.S. Embassy in Nassau is pleased to announce a call for small grants proposal under the PEPFAR Small Grants Program. Community based organizations, non-government organizations, civil society organizations and individuals are invited to submit proposals that work within The Bahamas\u2019 national plan to mitigate the spread of HIV\/AIDS.<\/p>\n
These small grants are intended for small-scale, quick impact projects to target hard-to-reach groups such as: at-risk teenagers and young adults, prison inmates, socially marginalized populations (e.g. men who have sex with men and commercial sex workers), migrant or displaced persons, and\/or the geographically rural.<\/p>\n
In keeping with PEPFAR goals and the priorities of the Caribbean Regional Partnership framework, proposals should target one of the hard to-reach, most at-risk populations \u2013 directly or indirectly \u2013 and have support from local government, community leaders in the field as well as the organization\u2019s leadership (if applicable).<\/p>\n
Proposals may range from $2,000 to $6,000.\u00a0 This is the third call for proposals under the 2013 funding.\u00a0 The Embassy expects to announce another call for proposals in the first quarter of 2014.<\/p>\n

Criteria, Specifications and Rules:
\nProposals should focus on increasing community awareness of HIV\/AIDS and promoting discussion and action to combat HIV\/AIDS in The Bahamas. \u00a0The program strongly supports creative, original, and innovative activities including but not limited to, promotional risk-reduction and prevention messages, voluntary counseling and testing promotion, training and education opportunities and promotional contests. Priorities will be given to projects demonstrating partnership and collaboration as well as innovative arts and culture research.<\/p>\n
