The Bahamas International Film Festival (BIFF), celebrating its 10th anniversary, today announced the members of the jury that will preside over the competition categories at the Festival, which takes place December 5th \u2013 13th. The jury was revealed today by BIFF Founder and Executive Director Leslie Vanderpool.<\/p>\n
The four competition categories at BIFF are Spirit of Freedom: Narrative; Spirit of Freedom: Documentary; New Visions; and Short Film. Jury members are:<\/p>\n
New Visions: First Look<\/strong><\/p>\n Dr. Nathaniel Kohn \u2013 Professor at the University of Georgia\/ Associate Director of the George Foster Peabody Awards\/ Producer (\u201cZulu Dawn,\u201d \u201cRain,\u201d \u201cSomebodies\u201d)<\/p>\n Attila Feszt \u2013 Visual Artist and Designer<\/p>\n Toni Silveri \u2013 Actress\/Voice Actor\/Singer<\/p>\n Spirit of Freedom: Narrative & Documentary<\/strong><\/p>\n Kelly Amber Moore \u2013 Writer and former Creative Executive at Nicholas Cage\u2019s Saturn Films (\u201cNational Treasure: Book of Secrets,\u201d \u201cGhost Rider,\u201d \u201cKnowing\u201d)<\/p>\n Patty Roker \u2013 Writer and Broadcaster<\/p>\n Dan Shannon \u2013 Director\/Producer (\u201cHaiti Untold,\u201d \u201cSweet 16\u201d)<\/p>\n Short Film<\/strong><\/p>\n Tatiana Siegal \u2013 Journalist\/Film Reporter at The Hollywood Reporter<\/p>\n Theodore Elyett \u2013 Fashion Designer<\/p>\n Leslie Tynes \u2013 Actress\/Voice Actor\/Radio and TV personality (\u201cCrazy Love,\u201d \u201cJames Catalyn & Friends\u201d)<\/p>\n Non-competition categories at BIFF include Panorama Narrative; Panorama Documentary and Short Films out of competition. Special sections include the signature Youth Film Workshop films made by five local Bahamian schools, as well as a World Cinema showcase spotlighting Chinese films provided by the Chinese Embassy in The Bahamas.<\/p>\n The Festival will be hosting a variety of panels covering a number of topics including Acting, Films, Festivals and Fundraising and Filmmaking in The Bahamas, sponsored by RBC Royal Bank. Among the participating panelists are:<\/p>\n Acting<\/strong><\/p>\n Rob Adler \u2013 Director\/Writer\/Producer (“iVOTE”)<\/p>\n Films, Festivals and Fundraising<\/strong><\/p>\n Ivan Clements \u2013 Producer (\u201cLittle Deaths,\u201d \u201cJanuary 2nd\u201d)<\/p>\n Lisa Cortes \u2013 Producer (\u201cPrecious,\u201d \u201cThe Woodsman,\u201d \u201cShadowboxer\u201d)<\/p>\n Dr. Nathaniel Kohn \u2013 Professor at the University of Georgia\/ Associate Director of the George Foster Peabody Awards\/ Producer (\u201cZulu Dawn,\u201d \u201cRain,\u201d \u201cSomebodies\u201d)<\/p>\n Filmmaking in The Bahamas<\/strong><\/p>\n Lance Knowles \u2013 Cinematographer\/Owner of Sky High Media<\/p>\n Travon Patton \u2013 Producer<\/p>\n Vijay Subramanian \u2013 Doctor\/Photographer\/Independent Filmmaker<\/p>\n The 10th anniversary of BIFF will kick off on December 5th with a gala screening of Andrew Melby and Reggie Henderson\u2019s drama \u201cBahamian Son,\u201d at the Atlantis Theater.<\/p>\n The following night, Festival guests will be treated to a Career Achievement Tribute ceremony at the Atlantis honoring Danny Glover, who will be in attendance.<\/p>\n The festival will close with Travolta Cooper\u2019s documentary \u201cThe Black Moses,\u201d on December 8th in Nassau at the Atlantis Theater.<\/p>\n Celebrating its 10th year, the Bahamas International Film Festival has established itself as a marquee international Festival in the Caribbean region, discovering and promoting independent voices and talent from around the world and showcasing a diverse array of international films.<\/p>\n
