Spending reached $88.2 billion for the period.<\/p>\n<p>In August 2010, 6.4 million international visitors travelled to  the United States, an increase of 11 percent over August 2009. August  2010 registered the eleventh straight month of increases in U.S.  arrivals.<\/p>\n<p>International visitors spent $88.2 billion during the first eight  months of 2010, 10 percent more than the same period in 2009. In August  2010, international visitors spent $11.5 billion, 15 percent more than  in August 2009.
