{"id":48270,"date":"2014-02-07T10:17:48","date_gmt":"2014-02-07T15:17:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/target\/bahamian-signal-piracy-3x-wider-than-thought"},"modified":"2014-02-09T11:21:11","modified_gmt":"2014-02-09T16:21:11","slug":"garraway-signal-theft-bigger-than-previously-thought","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2014\/02\/garraway-signal-theft-bigger-than-previously-thought","title":{"rendered":"Garraway Signal Theft Bigger Than Previously Thought"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-37419\" title=\"directv\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/directv.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/directv.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/07\/directv-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Satellite Bahamas allegedly used more than three times\u2019 the number of accounts initially thought to pirate DIRECTV\u2019s signal, with the programmer having added the wives of the company\u2019s two principals as defendants.<\/p>\n<p>The US\u2019s largest satellite TV programmer, in its amended complaint alleged that the Mackey Street-based business and its owners, the Garraway brothers, had \u201cadmitted\u201d that the alleged scheme was far more extensive that initially thought.<\/p>\n<p>DIRECTV had accused Peter and Michael Garraway, and Satellite Bahamas, of illegally accessing its signal outside the US through a scheme that involved false subscriber names, accounts and service addresses.<\/p>\n<p>Its amended lawsuit, filed in the south Florida courts last month, acknowledged that initial investigations had revealed Satellite Bahamas owned 621 subscriber accounts.
