Certain employes in the Bahamas court system make sure that some cases go before “specific” judges, to ensure that the results are in accordance with their plans.<\/p>\n
Mr Flowers, who has gotten rich from a very public numbers business, has been able to escape prosecution for years.<\/p>\n
He was surprisingly charged last year with promoting a lottery and permitting his web shop to be used for the purpose of conducting a lottery after police raided FML’s head office on Wulff Road.<\/p>\n
Police confiscated nearly $1 million in cash in the raid. Flowers has pleaded not guilty to the charges.<\/p>\n
A number of his employees were also arraigned on similar charges and several patrons were charged with being found on the premises where a lottery was taking place.<\/p>\n
Flowers and his employees are represented by attorney Alfred Sears.<\/p>\n
If convicted, persons could face a fine of up to $5,000 or up to two years in prison.<\/p>\n
Most Bahamians believe that the raid and subsequent court actions are all for “show and tell” and that the government has no intention of ever convicting Mr Flowers.<\/p>\n
