John Armstrong accompanied by Defense Attach\u00e9 Cdr. Samuel Wartell, Director of Operation Bahamas Turks and Caicos (OPBAT) Cdr. Mark Driver and Sr. Chief Gregory Zerfass of the visiting U.S. Coast Guard Cutter SAWFISH were given a tour of the \u201cSwan Song of the Flamingo\u201d exhibit at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas.\u00a0 Mr. Kishan Munroe, local Bahamian artist gave the officials an extensive hour-long tour of the exhibit that recounted the tragic incident that occurred on May 10, 1980.<\/p>\n<p>Through vivid paintings, photos and video the exhibit highlights Mr. Munroe\u2019s recreation of the tragedy as well as response to the incident by renowned Bahamian poets and historians.\u00a0 The United States Coast Guard provided crucial military support to the Royal Bahamas Defence Force and the Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas immediately following the sinking of the HMBS FLAMINGO and serves a lasting testament to the strong bilateral partnership that remains in place between the United States and The Bahamas.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>Embassy of the United States, Nassau<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-52878\" alt=\"kishan-munroe-swan-song-usembassy1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/03\/kishan-munroe-swan-song-usembassy1.jpg\" width=\"550\" height=\"325\" \/><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>Captions: <\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>Photos at top and bottom: Local artist Kishan Munroe guides U.S. officials through the \u201cSwan Song of the Flamingo\u201d exhibit at the National Art Gallery of The Bahamas.<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>Photo at left: From left: Defense Attach\u00e9 Cdr.
