{"id":60076,"date":"2014-04-11T08:30:54","date_gmt":"2014-04-11T12:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=60076"},"modified":"2014-04-15T09:16:30","modified_gmt":"2014-04-15T13:16:30","slug":"commonwealth-bank-teams-with-ja-for-seminar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2014\/04\/commonwealth-bank-teams-with-ja-for-seminar","title":{"rendered":"Commonwealth Bank Teams With JA For Seminar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-60084\" alt=\"junior-achievement-bahamas\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/junior-achievement-bahamas.jpg\" width=\"550\" height=\"325\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The financial consciousness of over\u00a0260\u00a0students between grades 7-9 was awakened at the Commonwealth Bank (CB) and Junior Achievement (JA) New Providence hosted the &#8216;Let&#8217;s Talk about the Future \u2013\u00a0Career &amp;\u00a0Financial Planning Seminar&#8217; held recently.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;CB, the Education Bank, is all about creating a firm learning foundation for our country&#8217;s youth,&#8221; said Juliet Fraser- Sr. Manager of Operations, Commonwealth Bank. &#8220;ln keeping with our corporate core value to lead by example and use our resources and expertise to affect positive\u00a0change\u00a0in The Bahamas, CB has sought to advance financial literacy in the country by partnering with Junior Achievement Bahamas, the country&#8217;s largest youth economic program, to this seminar.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Philip Simon \u2013 Executive Vice Chairman of JA Bahamas remarked that JA is committed to introducing new and exciting initiatives for a younger demographic. &#8220;We in JA believe that assisting youth in making smarter financial decisions will have a positive correlation to happier futures and a more successful society,&#8221; he explained when asked why JA has shifted it curriculum in include not only high school students but encompass K5 \u2013 grade 12.<\/p>\n<p>During the daylong seminar the students were introduced to CB Kidz Savings Accounts, fundamentals of choosing a career path;\u00a0saving, investing and\u00a0financial implications\u00a0on\u00a0life events;\u00a0managing a personal budget\u00a0and setting financial goals.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>Caption:<\/em><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #888888;\"><em>Over\u00a0260\u00a0students &#8216;talked finance&#8217;:\u00a0Mr. Friendrick Dean- Sr. Manager, East Bay Street Branch\u00a0Commonwealth Bank addressing hundreds of junior high schools students at\u00a0a career and \u00a0financial planning\u00a0seminar hosted by Junior Achievement and Commonwealth Bank.
