{"id":6123,"date":"2011-02-04T08:54:45","date_gmt":"2011-02-04T13:54:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=6123"},"modified":"2011-02-04T08:54:45","modified_gmt":"2011-02-04T13:54:45","slug":"outrage-over-images-of-starving-horse-on-harbour-island","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2011\/02\/outrage-over-images-of-starving-horse-on-harbour-island","title":{"rendered":"Outrage Over Images of Starving Horse on Harbour Island"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-6127\" style=\"margin-left: 10px; margin-right: 10px;\" title=\"starving-horse\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/starving-horse-250x166.jpg\" alt=\"Starving horse in Harbour Island, Bahamas\" width=\"250\" height=\"166\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/starving-horse-250x166.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/starving-horse-150x99.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/02\/starving-horse.jpg 350w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 250px) 100vw, 250px\" \/>Animal rights activists are again outraged by images of animal abuse on Harbour Island, Bahamas.<\/p>\n<p>A local newspaper reports that the Bahamas Humane Society has confirmed that they have received  &#8220;countless complaints&#8221; and want the matter dealt with immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Animal lovers on Harbour Island say they have all but given up after  trying to convince the horse&#8217;s owner to take better care of the animal.<\/p>\n<p>This is as bad as the time that the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism released pictures of horseback riding in Harbour Island, only to receive worldwide condemnation for the images that showed, what appeared to be, a horse with a broken leg being forced to &#8220;perform&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>This latest incident is another example of how the government\u00a0 is not serious about protecting animals in  the Bahamas, where the police have the ability to deal with such cases,  but never do.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, the Bahamas police do not even seem capable of dealing appropriately with murder and rape, so it is far-fetched to expect them to deal with animal rights.<\/p>\n<p>Just last week, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2011\/01\/animal-cruelty-case-under-investigation-5819.html\">horrific example of animal abuse was reported in Grand Bahama<\/a>.\u00a0 Police say they are &#8220;investigating&#8221; but everyone knows nothing will ever be done about that.<\/p>\n<p>An article on BahamasB2B News, published last September, exposed the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/story.php?title=horrified-by-the-inhumane-state-of-the-bahamas-dog-pound\">horrific conditions at the dog pound in Nassau<\/a> where animal rights activists have been fighting for improved conditions for more than 15 years.\u00a0 Their pleas have fallen on the deaf ears of\u00a0 irresponsible legislators and incompetent police officers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The kennels were  unsanitary, poorly lit, badly dilapidated, and seemingly grossly  underfunded.
