{"id":73827,"date":"2014-07-31T10:25:06","date_gmt":"2014-07-31T14:25:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=73827"},"modified":"2014-07-31T10:25:06","modified_gmt":"2014-07-31T14:25:06","slug":"u-s-embassy-facilitates-small-grant-program-workshops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2014\/07\/u-s-embassy-facilitates-small-grant-program-workshops","title":{"rendered":"U.S. Embassy Facilitates Small Grant Program Workshops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-40496\" alt=\"pepfar\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/pepfar.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/pepfar.jpg 200w, https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/10\/pepfar-150x112.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>The United States Embassy will facilitate two information sessions for persons interested in submitting proposals to the U.S. President\u2019s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and Public Affairs Section Small Grants Program.<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. President\u2019s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) small grant program is open to civil society, including faith based organizations, community-based organizations, non-governmental organizations, HIV programs and commissions, and other local groups and individuals working in communities throughout The Bahamas.<\/p>\n<p>PEPFAR is a global health program launched in 2003 to combat and limit the spread of the HIV\/AIDS disease.\u00a0 PEPFAR represents the largest commitment in history made by a nation to a single disease.\u00a0 Through PEPFAR, as of September 30, 2012, the U.S. directly supported more than 5.1 million people on antiretroviral treatment (ART). This number is up from 1.7 million in 2008 \u2013 a three-fold increase in only four years.<\/p>\n<p>The Public Affairs Section\u2019s small grant program is designed to assist Bahamian organizations in carrying out programs directly related to increasing the capacity of Bahamian civil society to work in areas of mutual interest such as, youth leadership development, education, women\u2019s empowerment, entrepreneurship, economic development, cultural exchange, and civic activism.<\/p>\n<p>Persons interested in submitting proposals for PEPFAR or the Public Affairs Section\u2019s small grants program are invited to attend two information sessions:<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On Friday, August 1 at 12 noon in the American Corner, Harry C. Moore Library at The College of The Bahamas.<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On Thursday, August 7 at 10:00 a.m. at the Anglican Diocese of The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands in Addington House on Sands Road.<\/p>\n<p>Public Affairs Section grant proposals are due August 18, 2014 and PEPFAR grant proposals are due August 25, 2014.
