{"id":78968,"date":"2014-09-10T09:04:17","date_gmt":"2014-09-10T13:04:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=78968"},"modified":"2014-09-12T11:41:31","modified_gmt":"2014-09-12T15:41:31","slug":"us-embassy-to-host-three-day-conference-on-womens-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2014\/09\/us-embassy-to-host-three-day-conference-on-womens-leadership","title":{"rendered":"US Embassy to Host Women\u2019s Leadership Conference"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 10-12, 2014, the Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy Nassau will host a three-day conference focused on \u201cAchieving Social Equity: Empowering women and youth politically, socially, and economically,\u201d in Nassau.\u00a0 Embassy Speaker, Dr. Avis Jones-DeWeever will engage the Bahamian community on issues facing women and youth in today\u2019s modern society.\u00a0 Dr. Jones-DeWeever serves as president of a consulting firm based in Washington, DC that provides customized approaches to transforming innovative ideas into effective action.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-78969\" alt=\"dr-weever\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/09\/dr-weever.jpg\" width=\"200\" height=\"150\" \/>Dr. Jones-DeWeever has held positions in a variety of highly esteemed organizations and governmental institutions including the Governor&#8217;s Office of Virginia, the Maryland State House of Representatives, the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies and the Institute for Women&#8217;s Policy Research.\u00a0\u00a0 Most recently she served as the Executive Director of the National Council of Negro Women where she led a new organizational push towards policy action and impact.<\/p>\n<p>This is a request for your media representative\/s to provide coverage of the following events:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Dr. Avis Jones-DeWeever will be the featured guest at a luncheon on Thursday, September 11 beginning at 12:00 noon at the Balmoral Club, Sandford Drive.\u00a0 She will address the topic, \u201cBahamian Women Rising: Developing Effective Action.\u201d\u00a0 U.S. Charg\u00e9 d\u2019Affaires a.i.
