{"id":7925,"date":"2011-04-20T22:06:03","date_gmt":"2011-04-21T02:06:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=7925"},"modified":"2011-04-20T22:06:03","modified_gmt":"2011-04-21T02:06:03","slug":"btc-unions-putting-pressure-on-cwc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2011\/04\/btc-unions-putting-pressure-on-cwc","title":{"rendered":"BTC Unions Putting Pressure On CWC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Unions of the Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) claimed that Cable and Wireless Communications (CWC), which now owns 51 percent of the telecoms company, is already not \u201cabiding by legally binding contracts\u201d it has with them.<\/p>\n<p>President of the Bahamas Communications and Public Officers Union (BCPOU) Bernard Evans said at a press conference at the union\u2019s headquarters on Farrington Road that CWC\/BTC is not adhering to the industrial agreement by failing to reimburse almost 500 employees whose pay was cut because they participated in protests against the sale of the company for two days in December.<\/p>\n<p>Evans said BTC claims those employees were not given authorized leave and that is why their pay was cut.
