Joining the students in the presentation photo are:  Prescott Smith, Stafford Creek Lodge; Dovis Bain, Andros Bay Lodge; Jennifer Cornell, Andros Island Bonefishing Lodge; Nicholas Chad Hinsey, Small Hope Bay Lodge, Harcourt Davis, District Superintendent, Ministry of Education; Father Ethan Ferguson, Central  Andros Anglican Priest; and Andre Nairn, Principal, Central Andros High School.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Central Andros High School is rapidly leading the way in hospitality training for students on the island.<\/p>\n<p>In September 2010, the school introduced the three-year START\/Lodging Management Programme (LMP) offered by the American Hotel and Lodging Association which prepares students for positions in areas such as the front desk, bell services, reservations, housekeeping and food and beverage.\u00a0 On completion of the programme, participating students will earn the distinction of being Certified Rooms Division Specialist.<\/p>\n<p>The tourism and business community on Andros are pleased with the initiative and have demonstrated their support by donating the START course materials to the schools for the students.\u00a0 Mr. Nicholas Chad Hinsey, representative from Small Hope Bay Lodge made the presentations to Mr. Gailey Williams, program\u2019s director\/instructor and culinary arts teacher at Central Andros High School.<\/p>\n<p>Other partners in this venture include:\u00a0\u00a0 Kamalame Cay Resort, Andros Bonefishing Lodge, Stafford Creek Lodge, Snackitt Wholesale Treats, Big Charlie\u2019s and Fatiha\u2019s Fishing Lodge, and Digital Sounds Electronics.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Hinsey in making the donation noted that they felt the need to assist because the effort represents a \u2018win-win\u2019 situation for the Andros tourism economy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe better the hospitality training our students receive, the better pool of employees we have to chose from to work in the industry;\u00a0 this also means improved customer service standards, \u201c Mr. Hinsey further stated.<\/p>\n<p>On accepting the books, Mr. Williams stated that they will be useful in preparing the students for their first year certification exams in June 2011.\u00a0\u00a0 The programme has also been endorsed by the Bahamas Hotel Association.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Central Andros High School is rapidly leading the way in hospitality training for students on the island.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":17,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"rop_custom_images_group":[],"rop_custom_messages_group":[],"rop_publish_now":"initial","rop_publish_now_accounts":{"facebook_10223285771444175_51037792744":""},"rop_publish_now_history":[],"rop_publish_now_status":"pending","footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[21,25,59,140,33],"class_list":["post-8103","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-local","tag-educational","tag-hotels","tag-islands","tag-schools","tag-tourism"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8103","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/17"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=8103"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8103\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=8103"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=8103"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=8103"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
