Bahamas Telecommunications Company (BTC) employees have begun receiving their voluntary separation package (VSEP) offers, according to the company\u2019s new Chief Executive Officer Geoff Houston who also said that BTC customers could begin to see mobile phone rate decreases as early as July.<\/p>\n
Houston said the VSEP process could take some time to roll out after the accept\/decline deadline one month from now.\u00a0 He said the redistribution of people within the company would have to happen simultaneously.\u00a0 He also insisted that there will be no layoffs within the company \u201cright now.\u201d<\/p>\n
Houston said that if the number of individuals they are hoping will accept the voluntary packages is not reached, they will have to look at other operational efficiencies to streamline the company.<\/p>\n
While he would not say what percentage of the staff they are hoping would accept the VSEPs, he said they have benchmarked it against similar telecommunication environments.\u00a0 The number that has typically been thrown around is 30 percent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
