{"id":9810,"date":"2011-06-29T09:04:45","date_gmt":"2011-06-29T13:04:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/?p=9810"},"modified":"2011-06-29T09:04:45","modified_gmt":"2011-06-29T13:04:45","slug":"bastian-dumped-by-dna","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bahamasb2b.com\/news\/2011\/06\/bastian-dumped-by-dna","title":{"rendered":"Bastian Dumped By DNA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former MP Whitney Bastian has been denied a nomination to run in the next general election by Bran McCartney&#8217;s newly formed Democratic National Party.<\/p>\n<p>The DNA apparently feels that Mr Bastian&#8217;s &#8220;storied&#8221; past would be a liabilty to the party.<\/p>\n<p>Bastian has been placed on the &#8220;restricted list&#8221; by the government of the United States and does not have a U.S. Visa.<\/p>\n<p>Bastian, who was once charged but later aquitted on a drug offence back in 1987, never attempted to have himself removed from the stop list. He says his police record is clean and never needed a Visa.<\/p>\n<p>The former MP is quite popular in South Andros where he intended to run.<\/p>\n<p>Bastian says he is surprised by the DNA&#8217;s decision as he was asked to be part of the DNA team by party leader Bran McCartney. He reportedly said it &#8220;looks like someone else is running the party now.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Undaunted, Mr Bastian intends to run as an Independent.<\/p>\n<p>The newly formed DNA party is apparently having trouble finding enough people with integrity to run for office in the next election.<\/p>\n<p>No wonder.
