What condition are the Hotels in this area? I tried to get rates for Royal Oasis - they are still not accepting reservations for May 2005.

Royal Oasis is having problems. I sugggest you find another accommodation.

Pretty much all the other hotels in Grand Bahama are up and running. There are a few that are putting the finishing touches on repairs and renovations. But, for the most part, the island is functioning again as a major tourist destination.
