Hi, I saw in some prior posts that most of the good snorkeling is found through tour boats.

Im goign to be staying at the cable beach area, is there any good snorkeling that can be had off the shore? What places do you recommend visiting for good offshore snorkeling? We're bringing our own equipment. Thanks

Most of the resorts on Cable Beach have private beaches, so you may not gain access to these beaches unless you're staying there. The Radisson Cable Beach Resort has a private roped-off beach that is very good for snorkling. There are three coral reefs in the beach area that makes home for several colorful tropical fish varieties. The water is clear, clean, still and warm. Happy snorkling!

We stayed at Cable Beach in 2001. The Nassau Beach Hotel and the sister property had a boat that catered to guests and they provided equipment.

It was our first time snorkeling. The location we went to was out quite a ways. It was well worth the time, and fee. We saw a nurse shark amongst many other fish. Quite enjoyable.

Isnt there a place anywhere in the port of Nassau and Paradise Island that you can go snorkeling w/o paying the boats prices? We are going to Nassau, Half Moon Cay and Grand Turk. Anyone have any advice. Carrying a 12yr & 16 yr old boys. Thanks
