Police Say Security Guard Faked Robbery

Police said that late Saturday night a male security officer employed by Sharp Eye Security Firm reported to them that he was robbed while attempting to deposit funds from Texaco Service Station in Eight Mile Rock into the night deposit vault of a local bank.

The 29-year-old man reportedly told police that two men, one armed with a handgun, robbed him of the deposit envelope containing the service station’s funds and fled on foot.

He reportedly said this happened when he was making the deposit at Bank of The Bahamas in Harbour West Shopping Centre.

Detectives were dispatched, and police said that while interrogating the security officer, his demeanor made them suspicious so they proceeded to search his vehicle.

One of the detectives reportedly found an envelope in the trunk of the man’s vehicle containing a large sum of cash, which they suspected were the stolen funds.

Police said they arrested the security officer and he was expected to be charged in connection with the crime.

Meanwhile, police were investigating a stabbing incident that reportedly occurred around 2:22am on Monday.

Police said they received information that three men were taken to the Rand Memorial Hospital after being stabbed.

Officers from the Central Detective Unit were dispatched to the hospital and reportedly found Robert Ramsey, 22, with multiple stab wounds about his body; Jackson Charles, 23, with a stab wound to the back; and Michael Newbold, 22, with a stab wound to his arm.

Charles and Newbold, both residents of Pinders Point, received medical attention and were discharged, police said.

Ramsey, who is also from the area, received more serious injuries and had to be detained in hospital, according to the police.

The three young men were all involved in a fight which broke out among a group of men at Ramsey’s home while he was holding a fish fry, police said in their preliminary report.
