Disturbing View on Statues

Having read your paper (The Tribune) today, June 27, 2006 and seeing a call on the front page to have a statue of Sir Lynden Pindling replace the statue of Queen Victoria and also remove the statue of Christopher Columbus from Government House, made by the one and only Keod Smith had disturbed me greatly.

Did the great Keod Smith go to bed one night and have an epiphany and was told to destroy the history of the Bahamas, or is he so shallow and petty that he only sees the last 30 to 40 years?

I believe that because these two statues represents the Colonial era, and also they are white, upsets Mr Smith, regardless of his statement he does not care of their complexion, race or where they came from, concerning Bahamians.

At this time there are many more serious problems in Mr Smith’s capacity as Ambassador of, or to, the Environment or whatever else he calls himself and here in our country than the removal of statues. Therefore, Mr Keod Smith earn your salary from the people, doing something good instead of always trying to cause mischief between the Black, Brown and White Bahamians.
