Police Hunt Female’s Killer

They had no one in custody in connection with the crime they classified as a homicide, but police reported on Monday evening that a 19 year-old male of Chippingham was “assisting” them with information.

Inspector Walter Evans told reporters at the scene that police received a call around 10pm which led them to the area, but he would not say who placed the call.

The body was found stuffed in the uncovered container with a strong odor emanating from it.

“This individual was tied by the feet and by the hands,” Inspector Evans reported. “At this point we donメt have any information concerning the identity. This matter is presently under active police investigation.”

Around 2am, investigators were still collecting evidence with the help of their new scenes of crime van as funeral home officials pulled up through the dark, bushy path.

It appeared that officials on the scene were challenged in taking the body away and in the end decided to leave it in the container and lift the container into the funeral home van.

Officials placed a white cloth over the garbage container before it was carried away.

Inspector Evans said the body was in an advanced stage of decomposition and it was not possible to estimate the femaleメs age from viewing the remains. He also told reporters she was partially clothed.

The female was the third in the last two weeks to be killed tragically.

On August 9, a young woman, Melissa Taylor, was shot in her head after she arrived at her Hampton Street home around 4 oメclock that morning, police said. She later died as a result. On August 19, Ericka Fowler, a mother of five who worked at the Tribune, was stabbed to death at her Golden Gates home, reportedly by a man she knew.

“When you have matters that involve females ヨ in fact, any individual ヨ the police are very much concerned, and so it is not just dealing with females,” Inspector Evans said on Monday morning as the latest victimメs body was carried away.

“We are presently looking into this matter as we are doing with all the other matters and anything that may be of any major concern to us.”

Asked whether there had been any females recently reported missing, he said, “We have reports of persons who would go missing, but we cannot [determine as yet] that this is a person who had gone missing. What we do know is that a female is dead.”

There was a burnt vehicle near the swamp from which the femaleメs body was pulled, but police said they did not believe it was connected to her death.

On Monday evening, Inspector Evans reported, “We believe weメre making some headway in connection with this matter.”
