Director of Romance is the title Freda Madrisotti will be bearing at the Ministry of Tourism.
The new post is the latest in a series of innovative positions created by the MOT over the last two years. It is also the first of its kind for any of the tourism offices throughout the entire Caribbean.
“We are pleased to tap Madrisotti as the ministry’s first director of romance,” Vernice Walkine, director-general at the MOT, told the media. “Each of our islands presents an array of romantic alternatives and in this new position, Madrisotti will provide a seamless connection among our partners,” she added.
Under her post Madrisotti will act as the “middle woman” between hotels, resorts, facilities, vendors and suppliers in planning special romantic events.
Travel Weekly online said Madrisotti would be the “gatekeeper of all things romantic,” as she is also responsible for liaising with the Bahamas Bridal Association and other partners in the bridal business, to stay abreast of any new and exciting developments in the wedding and romance related industries.
Ms Madrisotti will also coordinate romance-specific hotel package deals for visitors to The Bahamas. She will be working with hotels, especially the smaller resorts to encourage them to offer packages, services and facilities that are non-traditional.
Before taking an interest in evolving markets which led her to this position in tourism, Ms Madrisotti worked in financial services in the area of human resources. She also spent 17 years working for the public and private sectors in the Channel Islands, France and the UK, and has had extensive experience in the wedding and honeymoon industry in Europe, where she developed and co-ordinated nuptial deals for couples in Europe.
