The $70,000 a year poolside attendant is a reality at the Paradise Island Resort, said industry sources as unions were demanding more money for members.
With judges earing $70,000 a year and Cabinet ministers earning $60,000 a year, Atlantis workers can be considered among the “elite” in salary terms, said one source.
Poolside attendants can earn up to $2,000, a week in tips, it was claimed, and it is not unusua; for waiters at Atlantis to top $60,000 a year now that 15 per cent gratuities are added to the bills.
The disclosures came as union bosses pushed for pay increases for some Atlantis staff and The Bahamas Casino Employees Association sought to allow casino workers a chance to vote on the issue of union membership.
