Cops To Finally Act on MP Rape Allegations

Works Minister Bradley Roberts has reportedly agreed to be interviewed on the rape allegations at 10:00am today by top members of the Bahamas police force.

The interview will come nearly a month after a 47 year-old woman filed a police report stating that Roberts had raped her in her own house at Marathon.

Police apparently set up the interview only after the Punch newspaper revealed last Thursday that the police had failed to investigate the matter.

Roberts, who turned 62 on Christmas Day, has denied the charges. He has handed the matter over to his attorney, Prince Bonamy, of Davis & Company, the law office of Philip “Brave” Davis. Davis and Company also represents many of the top drug dealers in the Bahamas, including Samuel “Ninety” Knowles who is awaiting extradition to the United States on dope peddling charges.

Thus far, PM Perry Christie has remained silent on the matter. But, US Ambassador John Rood has reportedly contacted the PM about the matter. Rood has reportedly told the Prime Minister that top US officials in George Bush’s government will be watching to see how Christie handles the matter.
