Police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run traffic accident Sunday morning, which claimed the life of a 46-year-old New Providence resident.
Chief Superintendent Hulan Hanna said the only information police had about the vehicle that struck the victim was a description of its colour, which was green.
The fatal mishap occurred on Nassau Street around 1 am when the vehicle, which was being driven in a southerly direction, hit Uriah Hart Morley, Mr. Hanna said.
According to police reports, Mr. Morley was transported to Princess Margaret Hospital, but succumbed to injuries around 3:45 Sunday morning. His death increased the number of traffic-related fatalities for the year to four.
Mr. Hanna said the driver of the vehicle left the scene of the accident and remained unidentified up to Sunday afternoon, however, police investigations continued.
Mr. Hanna also disclosed that the two suspects wanted in connection with the shooting death of a security officer last week remained on the run.
He pointed out, however, that police were making some progress in their investigations, adding that, モWe are getting quite a bit of assistance from the public, but at this point nothing [sufficiently] definitive to lead to an arrest.メ
Richard Petty, 28, became the third murder victim of 2005 last Friday when two men robbed Wilmacᄡs Pharmacy on Poinciana Drive at gunpoint, according to police.
Upon leaving the establishment, the suspects shot Mr. Petty in the head, police said.
