RND Set To Launch TicketXpress

RND Holdings plans to formally launch its TicketXpress service on March 1, 2005, with high expectations that the electronic “universal distribution highway” it will create will make the business a “major contributor to the group’s bottom line” within 6 months.

Ken Donathan, RND Holdings chief operating officer, said the the TicketXpress business would initially act as an online reservation system in three areas – tickets for Western Air, the charter operator that runs flights from Nassau to Freeport and Andros; selling tickets to events and concerts; and prepaid wireless minutes for Quik Cell and GSM cell phones.

Mr. Donathan said the TicetXpress system was Internet based and accessible by anyone with Internet access.

TicketXpress would not initially provide online payment facilities for the reservations it took, Mr. Donathan said, explaining that this was because “there are certain inherent risks with e-commerce” such as security, although this was part of RND Holdings’ long term plans.
