PM Leaves Hospital

The Bahamas Prime Minister walked out of hospital Friday morning after being released to continue recuperating at his home following the slight stroke he suffered earlier in the week.

Mr. Christie had been rushed to hospital on Tuesday morning after waking up feeling light-headed and ill.

The red carpet was rolled out at the front entrance to Princess Margaret Hosputal as Mr. Christie, accompanied by his wife and others, walked down the hospital steps to a small crowd of well wishers who had gathered outside.

Remarkably, the first words from the Prime Minister’s mouth were not about himself, but about a 16 year-old girl he had met in the hospital only that morning. The young girl is a victim of a violent shooting that has left her paralyzed. Mr. Christie was visibly affected by the young woamn’s ordeal saying, “I think my injury and ailment pale into insignificance when you see a child of sixteen who has suffered the way she has”.

Mr. Christie also had nothing but praise for the doctors and staff at the government medical facility saying he received, “the best treatment in the world” and that he actually “enjoyed” his stay.

He especially thanked nursing officer Charlene Davis who took care of him from the time he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit to his release.

Dr. Perry Gomez, the PM’s personal physician said the Prime Minister is expected to finish his recuperation at home as well as follow a strict dietary and excercise program.

NOTE: Last chance to sign the PM’s “Get Well” card as it will be deliverd to the Prime Minister, probably on Monday.
