Bahamas Democratic Movement leader, Cassius Stuart said his party offers a new leadership option as the two previous administrations have failed.
Commenting yesterday on the unions’ demonstration in Rawson Square, Stuart said, “These demonstrations are a reflection of how the people feel. The people feel as though there is no leadership and no direction in this country. We have problems in education. We have problems in health. We have problems in the civil service throughout the country. What the people are basically crying for is leadership.” In addition he said, “The people are against this government because they have failed to empower; they have failed to bring that vision and direction that our country desperately needs.”
He explained, “Perry Christie represented hope in the last election but he has failed to deliver hope.” The BDM leader said the prime minister has also not delivered on his promises of help. “The people need some direction. The speed of the leader determines the rate of the pack. Look at the people, the people are in disarray,” he said looking over at the demonstrators. “The prime minister has not provided the leadership that we need. Over the last several months we have had many, many problems in our country but the prime minister said absolutely nothing about it,” Stuart stated.
He added, “We demonstrated against Hubert Ingraham, now he is saying he is coming back. We’ve got to get rid of these recycled politicians who have no direction for our country. That’s why the BDM is here and that’s why the BDM represents the vision for our country.”
Mr Stuart also declared that, “Crime is rampant in our society but nobody is doing anything there so we seem to be a rudderless country with no direction and no leaders.”
